Austin White has over thirty years of service with local, state, and federal agencies and the private sector in various public safety disciplines. He is currently assigned as the Homeland Security Division Commander for the Virginia State Police (VSP) and holds the rank of Captain. His responsibilities include the leadership of over 100 analysts and investigators at the Virginia Fusion Center, the Northern Virginia Regional Intelligence Center, VSP components of five different FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces, and several other VSP and multi-jurisdictional investigative task groups. Highlighted within his command are the Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Unit along with Virginia’s Cyber Intelligence and Response Group.

He serves on several national boards, including the National Fusion Center Association's Private Sector Engagement and Maritime Intelligence Committees. He is also the elected president of the Global Shield Network, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing security and resilience worldwide. He is a technical instructor and instructor trainer specializing in intelligence analysis, incident response, and emergency services coordination for Louisiana State University and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Center for Domestic Preparedness.

Captain White's dignitary protection experience comes from the Virginia State Police Executive Protective Unit where he was a shift leader protecting the Governor and First Family of the Commonwealth and the private sector, where he was Vice President of Investigations for American Security Group in Richmond, Virginia. He has provided specialized dignitary protection training and services to the United States Diplomatic Security Service, United States Secret Service, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Virginia State Police, Virginia Capitol Police, and a host of other public and private sector entities.

A certified Associate Emergency Manager, Continuity of Operations Specialist, National Crime Prevention Specialist, and a certified Law Enforcement Command Executive Officer, Captain White holds a Master of Public Safety degree from the University of Virginia, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Tech, and the Advanced Professional Series and Professional Development Series post-graduate certificates from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Emergency Management Institute. He is a graduate of the National Criminal Justice Command College and is a member of the Omicron Sigma Sigma National Honor Society. He is a recipient of several national awards, including the Dr. Richard W. Kobetz Achievement Award for Outstanding Professional Accomplishments and the Anti-Defamation League's Shield Award. He is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute, a member of the Nine Lives Associates and a life member of the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.
