These comprehensive online sessions offer a solid foundation prior to experiencing the physical hands-on driving experience at the track.
Our innovative approach allows you to be better prepared and suited for the day-to-day realities that protection drivers, personal protection specialists, bodyguards, executive/security drivers, chauffeurs, and anyone operating a vehicle are likely to face.
EPI has spent decades researching, developing, and training thousands of students in the art of protection. Our Protection Driving Division has created training modules designed to best develop and blend the professional's driving, protection, and concierge capabilities.
Here is an overview of what is covered in each online session:
Passengers trust their airline pilots, for good reason. EPI adopts some of the aviation industry's best practices in this training module.
As with pilot training, the focus is on developing the key skills essential for safe vehicle operation and properly responding to dangerous situations.
Additional similarities include the professional role and mindset pilots must demonstrate when assessing, commanding, and operating their aircraft. Sound policies, procedures and regulations that govern commercial piloting are considered and easily applied to the professional driver, such as vehicle checklists, route analysis and adherence to periods of downtime.
There will be clear explanations on vehicle physics, driver capabilities and environmental challenges to better understand and manage behind the wheel emergencies.
This module will discuss the importance of a driver being able to maximize vehicle performance while utilizing all their capability during dynamic situations. Comparisons between vehicle features and technological advancements are explored.
Drivers will also get an in-depth analysis on the single most important component of any vehicle... tires. Tires will either enhance vehicle performance or compromise the very safety drivers are expected to provide. The discussion will include how to properly read, select, and maintain them.
Most evasive/defensive driving programs taught in driving schools, security courses and law enforcement academies spend more than 98% of their training focused on preparing for events that occur less than 2% of the time.
Little or no attention is paid to the daily challenges encountered by driving professionals. By contrast, EPI puts a substantial focus on the necessary soft skills and successfully merges the disciplines of driving and protection.
EP Behind the Wheel is client-focused, addressing the reality of vehicle maintenance, presentation, and an everyday concierge level of driving. Etiquette, customer service, tactical communications, and discretion are discussed at length.
We will delve into The Protection Driving Program and its specific exercises explaining the importance of each one. When designing the Protection Driving Program, the Executive Protection Institute followed the same philosophy established in 1978 to deliver a course that was not a run, jump, shoot and scream type of program. While doing everything they can to avoid having to use them, EPI recognizes that hard driving skills must be learned, developed, and maintained by professionals in the event they may someday be required. At the same time, it is necessary to provide a concierge level of service to facilitate the daily needs of the client. By integrating in a holistic approach, both hard and soft skills into a single program, EPI creates the proper balance between the two skill sets.
All students MUST attend the Protection Driving Online Sessions Modules 1-4 in consecutive order prior to the behind the wheel training within the same calendar year.
